An independent institution, the Bar brings together all the lawyers registered on the roll of the National Bar Association. It upholds professional ethics, defends the rights of the defence and guarantees litigants access to qualified counsel.

The Djibouti Bar brings together the lawyers registered on the roll. As an independent professional order, it organises the profession, guarantees its independence and represents its members before public authorities and the courts.

History

A legal tradition being modernised

Heir to a long legal tradition, the Bar has taken shape over the decades to support the development of the rule of law in the Republic of Djibouti. Its work today is part of a modernisation drive: a digital directory, continuing education and the strengthening of the Bar's institutions.

Re-elected for a third term, the President of the Bar works to institutionalise the Bar — notably through the 'House of the Lawyer' project — and to strengthen an independent Djiboutian justice accessible to all.

The Bar Council

The deliberative body of the Bar, the Bar Council administers the Bar: registration on the roll, discipline, management and representation of the profession. It is chaired by the President of the Bar and rules on matters relating to the practice of the profession.
